Soul Jewels

Stars like jewels seed the sky
Blooming flowers drenching the black bed of night,
Shining above creeks and rivers and dreamers
Resurrected until the sun turns them transparent.

But you can drink them while they’re fresh
On a blanket tossed on the ground,
They pour into your mouth and eyes
Universal juice to the soul.

Night after night after night…

  3. Dorraine this was absolutely beautiful. Took my breath away! Each sentence got stronger and stronger, I had so many favorite parts that to share I would have had to copy and paste the whole thing.

I love stars, and I drink them every night :)

Look forward to following you! I can tell this is going to be a place I visit often.

  5. Hi Dorraine,
Some poems I get, some I don't (due to something I lack). What you've written, I get it; can put myself into your words and smile!
You've taken something simple and natural and made it beautiful and desirable. Makes me want to go out tonight and stargaze. :)
Hope to read and write more blog posts now that the kiddies are done back to school. Looking forward to reading more of your thoughts.
Thanks for visiting my blog today.

  6. It's great having you back around, Anita! I always enjoy your posts.

Glad you got the poem and enjoyed it! Thank you. I'm nothing if not direct with my poetry approach, but I've found there is beauty in that.
